51.2V 100Ah DIY LiFePO4 Battery Kit (16S) — Case, BMS & Accessories for LF105-Format Cells

A 16S DIY battery kit for pack builders: rack-format case, 100A-class smart BMS and the full accessory set for LF105-format prismatic LiFePO4 cells — supplied as a kit, assembled by you, branded by you.

A Kit, Specified Like a Component — Not a Finished Battery

This page is for assemblers, solar installers, and distributors who build their own 51.2V packs: you source the cells, we coordinate the case, BMS and hardware around them. Sixteen 3.2V prismatic cells in series give a nominal 51.2V pack; at 100Ah that is about 5.12 kWh — the single-rack-unit size for home solar storage and backup power. What this kit is not is a finished battery: no cells are inside unless you order the tier that includes them, and nothing on this page should be read as a ready-to-install product.

The kit is supplied in three tiers. The market uses loose words like “complete kit” for all three, so we define each tier by what is physically in the box:

Tier What is in the box What you supply
1 — Case-only kit Steel case plus accessory set: series busbars, sampling boards or balance harness, insulation set, main terminals, protection hardware, fasteners Your cells and your own BMS
2 — Case + BMS kit (standard offer) Everything in Tier 1, plus a fitted 16S smart BMS and display. This is the configuration meant when a listing says “Battery Case + BMS + Accessories (Cells Not Included)” Your cells
3 — Complete kit with cells Everything in Tier 2, plus 16 matched Grade A cells of the model confirmed in your order Assembly only

If you only need the protection board itself, see our standalone smart BMS boards. If you would rather not assemble at all, the same format exists as finished product in our 51V rack-mount LiFePO4 battery range.

The Honest Starting Point: One Cell Format Has a Matched Case

“100Ah-class” prismatic cells come in two incompatible format families — tall and slim (Family A: EVE LF105, 130.3 × 36.35 × 200.5 mm) versus low and wide (Family B: EVE LF100LA, CATL 100Ah, Lishen 102Ah, roughly 160 × 50 × 116–119 mm). At 12.8V both families have a kit route. At 51.2V, the evidence says something narrower, and this page states it plainly:

Format family Representative cells Cell size, L × T × H (mm) 16S kit position
Family A — tall and slim EVE LF105 (105Ah) 130.3 × 36.35 × 200.5 (incl. terminals); terminal centres 67 mm apart A matched DIY case format exists — the Mason 105 class of 16S kits is sold specifically for EVE 105Ah cells, with a 100A-class BMS
Family B — low and wide EVE LF100LA / CATL 100Ah / Lishen 102Ah ≈160 × ≈50 × 115.5–118.8; terminal centres 97 mm (LF100LA) No matched loose-cell 16S DIY case identified — treat as an OEM project discussion, not a stocked kit format

So this page is an LF105-format page. If your programme is built on wide-format cells, do not order this kit against them: the case side would have to be developed as a project, with drawings and a sample before any volume commitment — say so in the enquiry and it will be scoped honestly rather than sold around. Sixteen LF105 cells sit in the case layout fixed by the case drawing (a single row runs ≈581 mm of cell thickness; two-row layouts divide that differently), which is one more reason the exact case is a written confirmation and not a web-page number.

There is a second thing this page will not do: print case dimensions. The Mason 105 class of kits is listed across channels with its cell fitment and BMS class — and no published external dimensions anywhere. The 19-inch rack format is the design direction (finished rack packs in this class are built to the 442 mm rack width), but a direction is not a dimension sheet. Rather than invent a precise-looking figure, the case drawing for your order is confirmed in writing. If another supplier prints exact dimensions for a loose-cell 16S 100Ah case, it is worth asking which drawing they came from.

Reference Standard Configuration

The table below is the reference build most buyers start from. It is a starting point for a written specification, not a locked catalogue item — and on this model the Basis column carries several confirmations, because that is what the evidence supports.

Item Reference configuration Basis
Pack format 16S (16 × 3.2V cells), 51.2V nominal; ≈5.12 kWh at 100Ah, ≈5.4 kWh with 105Ah cells Fixed by the kit design
Cell format Family A — EVE LF105 format; the format with a matched case (see above) Fixed for the stocked kit format; other formats are OEM projects
Case format Steel case in 19-inch rack-mount format Format class — see matrix below
Case size Confirmed per order No published dimension sheet exists for this case class — we will not invent one
BMS (Tier 2/3) 16S smart BMS, 100A continuous class, Bluetooth monitoring; inverter communication by BMS family The class this format is sold with — brand family and model confirmed per order
Main protection Fuse or circuit breaker in the main path, sized to the confirmed configuration Confirmed per configuration
Display LCD display fitted on with-BMS tiers Standard practice on with-BMS kits in this class — exact display confirmed per order
Main terminals P+ / P− terminal pair Confirmed per configuration

Configuration Options — Nothing Is Locked

Dimension Options Notes
Supply tier Case-only / Case + BMS / Case + BMS + cells See tier table above
Case format Rack-mount steel case for loose cells; module-based wall-mount construction (a different build, using pre-assembled cell modules); custom dimensions for volume programmes State your rack or cabinet constraint in the enquiry — the case drawing is confirmed against it
Cells fitted (Tier 3) EVE LF105 Family B cells (LF100LA class) are an OEM project only — no matched stocked case
BMS family JK inverter BMS (active balancing, CAN inverter protocols) / JBD (passive balancing, UART-RS485-CAN options) / Daly (classic passive or active-balance lines) Category options — the brand and model in your kit are confirmed in writing per order, never assumed
BMS continuous current 100A class Sized to the cells: 100A is ≈1C on a 100Ah string. Higher classes exist in the BMS families but must be justified against the cell datasheet, not the case
Balancing Active 1A or 2A, or passive balancing depending on BMS family Active balancing earns its cost on high-cycle storage duty
Communication CAN (inverter), RS485, Bluetooth app monitoring Name your inverter model so the CAN protocol match is confirmed, not hoped for
Display LCD / touch display / none “None” applies to the case-only tier
Heating pads Optional add-on Not standard fit. Add them if the pack will charge below 0 °C; this is separate from BMS low-temperature charge protection
OEM appearance Case colour, your logo and labels, rating plate, manual and packaging See the OEM / ODM section

What Is in the Accessory Set

Schematic concept rendering — the accessory set: BMS board, copper busbars, main cables, bolts, insulation pads and compression strap. Illustrative only, not a product photo.
  • 15 copper series busbars — a 16S pack needs one link per cell junction, i.e. series count minus one; the count follows the format, not a marketing bundle
  • BMS connection busbar set — the main-path links between cell block, BMS and terminals (a separate set from the series links)
  • Sampling boards ×2, or a balance-wire harness — the two market forms of the same job: routing the 17 sense taps (B0–B16) to the BMS in order
  • P+ / P− main terminals
  • Main-path fuse or circuit breaker, sized to the confirmed configuration
  • Display (with-BMS tiers)
  • Rack mounting hardware and handles, per the case format in your order
  • Insulation set — epoxy / fibre sheets between cells and case, EVA pads between cells
  • Fastener pack — terminal bolts, case and lid screws

Exact counts of insulation pieces and fasteners follow the bill of materials of the case in your order and are listed in the order confirmation — makers vary these counts widely, and we would rather confirm ours in writing than copy a competitor’s packing list.

Assembly: Sixteen Cells Into a Working 51.2V Pack

  1. Check the cells before anything is bolted. Compare resting voltage and internal resistance across all 16 cells, and bring them to a common state of charge. A spread you ignore here becomes the imbalance you chase for the life of the pack. On this format, also confirm every cell is the LF105 format the case was drawn for — height and terminal spacing (200.5 mm, 67 mm centres) are the giveaway.
  2. Insulate first. Epoxy or fibre sheets between the cell block and the steel case, separators between cells. Steel cases and prismatic cell cans must never rely on the cell’s own film alone.
  3. Set the layout your case drawing specifies, under even compression. Fit the end plates and strap snugly and evenly — prismatic LFP cells want moderate, uniform compression, not maximum force. Torque values come from the cell maker’s manual for your exact cell model and are stated in the kit documentation; there is no universal number.
  4. Land the sampling connections before the power path. Fit the sampling boards or balance harness from B0 upward and verify every tap reads in sequence before any busbar carries current.
  5. Bolt the series busbars in order — 15 links, polarity checked twice. Work cell 1 negative to cell 2 positive and onward, checking polarity at every step with a meter, not by eye.
  6. Wire the BMS main path and protection. B− to the first cell’s negative, P− out to the load terminal, fuse or breaker in the main line, then the P+ terminal. Confirm the BMS wakes and reads all 16 cell voltages before the lid goes on.
  7. Supervise the first full cycle. Watch per-cell voltages on the app or display through the first charge. A cell that runs away on cycle one is cheap to fix on the bench and expensive to find in a customer’s installation.
  8. Close up and record the build. Note the cell batch, BMS model and settings on the build sheet. That record is what makes warranty discussions and repeat orders simple.

A necessary word on who should do this: a 51.2V 100Ah pack stores about 5 kWh and can deliver very high fault currents. Assembly belongs with trained technicians using insulated tools. If your operation does not have them, buy the finished battery instead — it is the honest recommendation, and the finished rack range is in our energy storage battery line.

Where a 5 kWh DIY Pack Earns Its Keep

  • Home solar storage under your own label — the single-unit 5 kWh rack format is the entry size for residential ESS, and installers building private-label systems start here before stepping up to 280Ah units; see also our home energy storage and solar energy storage pages
  • Off-grid power — cabins, farms and small commercial sites where the pack is serviced locally and a locally assembled unit is easier to support than an imported finished battery
  • Telecom and network backup — 51.2V rack-format backup builds assembled around a locally stocked case and BMS platform; see our telecom backup power page
  • Assembler production lines — workshops turning imported cells into certified-local-content packs for their market

OEM / ODM: Your Brand, Your Specification

The kit format exists for buyers who sell under their own name. OEM options cover case colour, logo and rating labels, manuals and packaging; configuration options cover the BMS family and communication set, terminal arrangement, display, and — on Tier 3 — the cell supply the kit is built around. For volume programmes, case dimensions can be produced to a project specification rather than taken from the standard range — on this model that route is also how a wide-format (Family B) cell programme would be handled.

Our role in that process is coordination: requirements are confirmed in a written specification, matched against manufacturing partners’ production, and the agreed checkpoints and documents are handled on the export side. The specification confirmed in your order document is what binds the shipment — not this web page, which is why every variable item above is marked “confirmed per order”. Start from our OEM & ODM coordination page or the OEM / ODM RFQ checklist if you want the full document list.

What to Send Us for a Quotation

  • Tier — case-only, case + BMS, or complete with cells
  • Cell model — EVE LF105 for the stocked kit format; if your cells are a different format, say so and the case side is scoped as a project
  • BMS current class and inverter model — 100A class is the reference here; the inverter model lets the CAN protocol be confirmed against your actual inverter
  • Rack or cabinet constraint — the internal depth and clearance of the rack the finished pack must slide into, so the case drawing is confirmed against it
  • Quantity and destination — a sample kit for evaluation, or your expected regular volume, plus the destination port

One logistics advantage worth planning around: Tiers 1 and 2 contain no cells, so they ship as general cargo — no lithium-battery dangerous-goods freight. Many buyers ship kits by standard freight and source cells on a separate, optimised route; Tier 3 ships as regulated lithium cargo like any cell shipment. Exact packing dimensions and weights for your configuration are stated in the quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there no case dimensions on this page?

Because none are published — anywhere — for this case class. The Mason 105-type kits are listed with their cell fitment (EVE 105Ah) and BMS class (100A), but no channel publishes the case’s external dimensions, and we will not fill that gap with an invented figure. Your order confirmation carries the case drawing with its measurement basis; if dimensions are critical to your rack, send the cabinet constraint with your enquiry and the drawing is checked against it before you commit.

Can I build this kit with LF100LA or other wide-format cells?

Not in the stocked kit format. No matched loose-cell 16S DIY case for the wide format has been identified — the wide cells are roughly 160 mm long and only about 118 mm tall, a completely different block geometry from the LF105. A wide-format 51.2V programme is an OEM project: case developed to drawing, sampled, then produced. Enquire on that basis and it will be scoped as one.

Why is the BMS 100A class when the 280Ah kit offers 200A?

Because the cells set the sensible ceiling, not the case. 100A is about 1C on a 100Ah string — already a firm working rate for this cell class. The BMS families do offer 150A and 200A boards in 16S, and they are the right choice on 280Ah cells; on 100Ah cells a higher continuous rating has to be justified against the cell datasheet and the duty cycle, which is a per-project confirmation rather than a catalogue option.

Do I have to buy the BMS from you?

No. Tier 1 is case-only precisely for buyers with their own BMS platform. What we would ask is which board you plan to fit: the case’s BMS mounting position, display cut-out and protection hardware are arranged around a board class, and it is cheaper to confirm that fit on paper than to discover it on the bench.

Which BMS brand will my kit have?

The one confirmed in your order — deliberately. JK, JBD and Daly class boards are all in the option set, with different balancing types, current classes and communication options, and the right choice depends on your inverter and price point. Rather than printing a brand here and substituting later, the brand, model and settings are written into the order specification. If inverter communication matters, name the inverter model in your enquiry.

Can you supply the cells as well?

Yes — that is Tier 3: 16 matched Grade A EVE LF105 cells, supplied with the kit for your own assembly. If you prefer to source cells separately, our cell wholesale page is the starting point, and Tier 1 or 2 keeps the case side independent.

Is a heating pad included?

No — heating pads are an optional add-on, confirmed per order, and we say so plainly because some listings imply otherwise. Add them if the finished pack will be charged below 0 °C. They are a different thing from the BMS’s low-temperature charge cut-off, which is a protection setting on the board itself.

The DIY Kit Series

This page is the 51.2V 100Ah model in an eight-model DIY kit series: 12.8V 100Ah / 280Ah / 314Ah (4S), 25.6V 280Ah / 314Ah (8S), and 51.2V 100Ah / 280Ah / 314Ah (16S). Each model gets its own page because the cases, cell families and assembly details genuinely differ — the 100Ah models work to a different, dual-format cell system from the shared 280/314Ah footprint used by the rest of the series. The other seven models in the series: the 51.2V 280Ah DIY kit, the 51.2V 314Ah DIY kit, the 12.8V 100Ah DIY kit, the 12.8V 280Ah DIY kit, the 12.8V 314Ah DIY kit, the 25.6V 280Ah DIY kit and the 25.6V 314Ah DIY kit. The full product range is on Products.
