The 5kWh class is the world’s highest-volume home battery size — and the 51.2V 100Ah (5.12kWh) LiFePO4 battery is its standard-bearer. Built as 16S1P from sixteen 100Ah prismatic cells, it is the entry point for residential solar storage, the starter SKU for distributors, and a configuration with documented import shipments to Southeast Asia. This page covers the engineering, the buying logic, inverter pairings, and wholesale/OEM sourcing.

Why 16S1P: the Simplest Reliable Architecture
Sixteen cells in series, one string — no parallel cell groups. That simplicity is the point:
- Matching is straightforward: 16 cells to match, not 32. Voltage and internal-resistance sorting at build time is simpler and more verifiable than 2P architectures.
- Diagnostics are clean: one cell per series position means the BMS sees every cell directly — no parallel-pair masking of a weak cell.
- Cell supply is deep: 100Ah-class prismatic cells are a widely produced LiFePO4 cell format — competitive pricing and mature quality control.
- One cell, three rungs: the same 100Ah cell builds the 5.12kWh (16S1P), 10.24kWh (16S2P), and 15.36kWh (16S3P) models — a true product family.
Who Buys It: the Entry and the Starter SKU
- First-time solar homes: as a lithium battery for home solar storage, 5.12kWh covers evening loads for apartments and small homes with a 3–5kW hybrid inverter — the lowest-cost entry into 51.2V storage.
- Distributors: the starter SKU for new dealer channels. Lower unit price means faster turns and lower stocking risk; customers expand by paralleling identical units. See our Vietnam sourcing guide for how this size moves in Southeast Asia.
- Entry markets (Africa/SEA): the affordable answer for urban backup — evening loads, short outages, starter solar systems. See our Kenya guide.
- Rebate and program markets: the 5kWh size is the standard modular increment — buyers start with one and add units as needs grow.
The 51.2V Family Ladder
This model is the entry rung of a one-platform family:
| Model | Architecture | Energy | Position |
|---|---|---|---|
| 51.2V 100Ah | 16S1P (100Ah cells) | 5.12kWh | Entry — starter SKU, fastest turns |
| 51.2V 200Ah | 16S2P (100Ah cells) | 10.24kWh | Volume — standard family home (200Ah page) |
| 51.2V 280Ah | 16S1P (280Ah cells) | 14.34kWh | Cost-optimized — 280Ah page |
| 51.2V 314Ah | 16S1P (314Ah cells) | 16.08kWh | Flagship — 314Ah page |
Same 51.2V system voltage, same communication protocols, same installer training across all four. See the full 51.2V battery series.
Inverter Compatibility
Communication: CAN and RS485. Common low-voltage hybrid-inverter protocols (e.g. Pylontech-compatible CAN) are selectable in the BMS; the exact protocol is set for your inverter model and firmware, and pairing is confirmed per project. Closed-loop communication is preferred for accurate SOC; voltage-mode (open-loop) settings are the fallback where the inverter does not support the battery protocol. LJY Energy is not listed on any inverter manufacturer’s approved battery list unless confirmed in writing for your order. Send your inverter model and firmware version with the inquiry — see our BMS selection guide.
Wholesale and OEM/ODM
The 51.2V 100Ah is the fastest-turning SKU in the 51.2V family for distribution: lowest unit price, simplest 16S1P architecture, wall-mount standard with rack options, private-label available. Distributors typically open a new market with this model and add 200Ah/280Ah/314Ah as demand develops — same voltage platform, same support process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why start with 100Ah instead of 200Ah?
Lower unit price, faster inventory turns, and simpler 16S1P architecture. Customers expand by paralleling identical units — the 100Ah is the on-ramp to the whole 51.2V family.
Can I parallel 100Ah with 200Ah units?
No — parallel units must match in model, capacity, and age. Size the bank with one model; expand later with identical units.
Is 5.12kWh enough for a home?
For apartments and small homes covering evening loads — yes, with a 3–5kW hybrid inverter. Standard family homes typically step up to the 10.24kWh model or parallel two 100Ah units.
Which inverters are compatible?
The BMS supports CAN and RS485 and can be set to common protocols used by hybrid inverters such as Deye, Growatt and Victron systems. Send your inverter model and firmware version; we confirm the protocol setting, cable pinout and charge settings before shipment. Some inverter brands (e.g. SMA, Sofar, GoodWe) only warranty batteries on their own approved lists, and LJY Energy is not on any inverter maker’s approved list unless confirmed in writing.
