Türkiye is the second-largest uncovered market in our records: 63 Turkish buyers on file, 44 of whom state a product need, and 30 graded A or B in our CRM. The mix is led by 12V packs, with prismatic cells and energy storage behind them. It is also an English-language market in practice — only 2 of the 63 wrote to us in Turkish — so this page is in English. Market background, documented buyer signals and our supply scope are kept in separate sections below, and where a signal is weak we say so. Research date: November 2026.
Why Türkiye Buys Batteries: Self-Consumption Solar and Storage-Coupled Projects
Treat this section as market background; the documented buyer signals come next. Three structural facts explain the inquiry mix. First, self-consumption solar is mainstream: alongside YEKA tenders, Türkiye’s unlicensed generation framework (lisanssız) lets factories, farms and homes generate for their own use, with monthly netting (mahsuplaşma) against the grid. Under netting, a battery’s value is set by the tariff and the netting period, not by nameplate capacity — which is why Turkish buyers ask sizing questions early. Second, storage is now a licensed project category: since 2022, storage-coupled (depolamalı) pre-licences for solar-plus-storage and wind-plus-storage have been awarded at gigawatt scale, creating integrator demand for cells, rack systems and containerised storage with disciplined documentation. Third, the operating environment is demanding: the grid is 230V/50Hz, summer ambient temperatures in the south and southeast punish weak thermal design, and lira volatility means serious buyers budget in USD or EUR and ask how long a quotation stays valid.
What Turkish Buyers Actually Ask Us For
From our CRM records (anonymised; one inquiry counts as one signal, and a signal is not a market statistic):
- 12V packs are the volume centre — 23 of the 44 stated needs mention 12V. One bulk OEM request, in the buyer’s own English, listed 12V 40Ah, 75Ah and 150Ah plus 24V 150Ah packs and specified a 2,000-cycle service life. Buyers who write like this want a price per defined specification, not a catalogue tour.
- Home storage with a sampling discipline. A Turkish energy-storage solutions company asked about 7.2kWh-class packs and planned to test three sizes — 2, 12 and 14 kWh — at 220V AC before committing to a range.
- Project packs at four-digit volume. One government-project thread covered 1,000 × 6kWh battery packs, with cells sampled first and the technical requirements still being pinned down — project buyers confirm documents and samples before volume, in that order.
- Cells for local assembly — 7 of the 44 stated needs are cell-level, including 32650 and prismatic inquiries from buyers assembling packs in Türkiye. Cell buyers should start from the wholesale cells page and the prismatic cells page, where grade and consistency documents are the whole point.
- E-mobility with cycle life first. An electric-bus buyer working on self-assembly, and e-bike buyers, emphasised cycle life over headline capacity. One e-bike inquiry arrived in Turkish — “elektrikli bisiklet için en uygun ürününüz nedir” (“what is your most suitable product for an electric bicycle?”) — one of only two Turkish-language messages in the set.
- One weak signal, labelled as such. A 1MWh-class storage system appears in our records only inside our own follow-up notes, not in a buyer’s message. We count it as a weak signal and do not present it as buyer-stated demand; project-scale requests are handled specification-first regardless (see the FAQ).
Türkiye-Specific Checks: Netting, Heat and Project Milestones
- Size against the netting rule, not the roof. For unlicensed self-consumption sites, confirm the project category and netting arrangement first; the right capacity follows from the tariff and the settlement period.
- Storage-coupled projects run on milestones. Pre-licence projects carry documentation and timeline discipline. Fix cell grade documents, test summaries and pack drawings at specification stage — not at shipment, when a missing document costs a milestone.
- Design for summer heat. Charge and discharge windows, enclosure ventilation and storage conditions should be checked against the per-model datasheet limits for high-ambient regions, in writing.
- Confirm the inverter pairing. At 230V/50Hz, confirm the inverter model, communication protocol (CAN/RS485) and parallel-operation rules in the written specification before the order is produced.
- E-mobility packs: prove cycle life, don’t quote it. Vibration, enclosure sealing and cycle-life evidence belong in the specification for bus, e-bike and industrial-vehicle packs — a brochure headline is not evidence.
Certification and Import: Confirm Per Model, Before Shipment
Türkiye aligns much of its product legislation with the EU framework, so CE-marking documentation is the usual starting point, and some product categories additionally involve TSE documentation. What applies depends on the exact model and its HS classification — so we confirm the document set per model, in writing, before shipment, and we do not claim blanket certification across a catalogue. For transport, lithium shipments travel with a UN38.3 test summary and MSDS. On the customs side, HS 8507 classification, duty and any additional charges follow current Turkish customs practice and can change; align the document pack — commercial invoice, packing list, test summaries, origin documents where needed — with your customs broker before production starts. Buyers re-exporting into the EU face a different regime; our EU battery regulation guide covers that workflow and is linked here rather than repeated.
How to Compare Quotes in TRY, USD and EUR
- Price per usable kWh at the stated depth of discharge — nameplate kWh flatters every quote.
- Cycle life at that same DoD and temperature. A 2,000-cycle requirement (as one Turkish buyer specified) means nothing until the test conditions match.
- What is inside the price: BMS, communications, enclosure, parallel hardware and cabling — or none of them.
- Currency and validity window. With the lira moving, a USD or EUR quote without a validity date is not comparable to one with it.
- Delivery point. Ex-works, FOB and delivered-to-Istanbul prices are three different numbers wearing the same clothes; compare them at the same Incoterm.
How Sourcing with LJY Energy Works
LJY Energy is a China-based LiFePO4 battery supplier and OEM/ODM coordination partner. Our work is the coordination layer: requirements capture, written specification confirmation, supply-chain coordination with qualified manufacturing partners, agreed inspection checkpoints, confirmation documents and export support. Turkish buyers typically start from the 12V 100Ah deep-cycle and 51.2V rack-mount standard series, cell supply for local assembly, or a custom pack specification; project-scale storage starts from the containerised ESS page and the C&I BESS RFQ checklist. Send your specification — voltage, capacity, duty cycle, inverter model, target documents — via the contact page and we will answer against that specification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you ship to Türkiye, and to which ports?
Yes — shipments are arranged per order. The discharge port (Istanbul-area, Mersin and Izmir are the usual options) and Incoterms are confirmed in the quotation for your order rather than promised generically here.
Are your batteries certified for the Turkish market?
Documents are confirmed per model, in writing, before shipment: CE-framework documentation and, where the product category requires it, TSE-related documentation. We do not claim blanket certification for a whole catalogue, and any supplier who does should be asked for the model-specific file.
Can we buy cells and assemble packs in Türkiye?
Yes. Cell-level supply is a documented part of Turkish demand in our records. Grade evidence, per-batch consistency data and matching rules are confirmed in the written specification — see the wholesale cells page for how we document this.
Can you supply a megawatt-hour-class storage system?
Project-scale systems are handled specification-first: usable capacity, PCS/inverter pairing, enclosure and thermal design, and the document set are confirmed per project before any quotation. The RFQ checklist is the fastest way to open that conversation.
Do you sell single batteries to end users?
Our channel is B2B — distributors, ESS integrators, solar installers and OEM buyers. If you are fitting one vehicle or one home, a local dealer will serve you better; if you buy for resale, installation or assembly, this page is written for you.
