12V 200Ah dual purpose LiFePO4 battery for RV and marine

12V 200Ah Dual Purpose LiFePO4 Battery — Deep Cycle + Engine Starting

Product Overview

The 12V 200Ah dual purpose LiFePO4 battery delivers 2,560Wh for RV house loads with cranking support for engine starting. It bridges deep-cycle and starting applications for boats and RVs that need both from one unit: one battery bank runs the house loads through the night and still supports engine cranking, instead of a split deep-cycle/starting setup with two different battery types to size, wire and maintain.

As a China-based LiFePO4 battery supplier, LJY Energy supplies this model to RV and marine dealers, installers and distributors who want a single standardized 12V SKU that covers house power and starting assist. See also our 12V 400Ah deep-cycle model for larger house banks that do not need cranking support.

Why Dual Purpose

A dual-purpose battery changes how RV and boat owners plan their electrical system: one unit covers both the steady draw of house loads and the short surge of engine starting, which means fewer batteries, simpler wiring, and less weight than a split deep-cycle/starting setup. The flat LiFePO4 discharge curve also keeps electronics at a stable voltage from full to nearly empty, unlike the steady fade of lead-acid — and at a sensible 80% depth of discharge, the 200Ah rating returns about 160Ah of working capacity per cycle, roughly double the usable energy of a comparable lead-acid bank kept above 50%.

Charging & Compatibility

Typical charge profile: bulk/absorption at 14.2–14.6V, then termination — LiFePO4 needs no float stage and no equalization. Those figures are the 12V row of our charging voltage reference; see the complete charging guide for CC/CV operation.

  • Shore-power and onboard chargers: select the lithium (LiFePO4) profile; on a custom profile, set absorption to 14.2–14.6V and disable equalization.
  • Alternator charging: use a DC-DC charger with a lithium profile so the 200A-capable pack does not overload the alternator.
  • Solar / MPPT: program the controller to the same 14.2–14.6V absorption setpoint.
  • Engine compatibility: confirm the cranking requirement of your engine against the pack’s starting rating at the order stage — dual-purpose support is configuration-dependent.

Battery Lifespan

Cycle aging and calendar aging together determine real life. Typical reference for quality LiFePO4 cells: around 6,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (25°C, to 80% capacity retention) at cell level — pack results depend on BMS, thermal design and usage. Running at 80% DoD roughly doubles cycle life versus 100% DoD while sacrificing only 20% of per-cycle capacity. Our DoD vs cycle life guide explains the throughput economics.

Applications

  • RV house power — 2,560Wh runs lights, water pump, vent fans, and a small inverter for laptops and kitchen gear through the night; the 200A BMS absorbs inverter startup surges without nuisance cutoffs.
  • Engine starting assist — the dual-purpose design supports cranking current for gasoline engines, so smaller rigs can run a single battery bank for both house loads and starting instead of carrying a separate starter battery.
  • Marine house and trolling — powers fishfinders, livewells, lighting, and trolling motors on smaller boats; the flat discharge curve keeps electronics at stable voltage from full to empty.
  • Off-grid cabins and workshops — pairs with a solar charge controller for weekend cabins; a drop-in 12V replacement for lead-acid banks at a fraction of the weight and with far deeper usable capacity per cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one battery really handle both house loads and engine starting?
That is the point of the dual-purpose design: the 200A BMS and pack configuration support deep-cycle discharge for house loads plus short cranking surges. Confirm your engine’s cranking requirement against the exact build at the order stage.

How much usable energy do I get from 200Ah?
At 80% depth of discharge, about 160Ah — roughly 2,048Wh — per cycle, while keeping cycle life in the range LiFePO4 is known for.

Can I charge it from my alternator?
Yes, through a DC-DC charger with a lithium profile. Direct alternator connection without current limiting is not recommended for any large LiFePO4 bank.

Can I connect several units in parallel?
Parallel expansion for larger house banks is supported subject to configuration; series connection is configuration-dependent — confirm at order time.
