Battery Pack Configuration Calculator
Calculate the voltage, capacity and energy of a battery pack from cell specifications and series/parallel layout. All calculations run in your browser — no data is uploaded or stored.
Series increases voltage. 4S ≈ 12.8V, 8S ≈ 25.6V, 16S ≈ 51.2V for LiFePO4.
Parallel increases capacity (Ah).
How it works
Pack voltage = Cell voltage × S. Pack capacity (Ah) = Cell Ah × P. Pack energy (Wh) = Pack voltage × Pack Ah. Total cells = S × P.
Safety & design requirements
- Cell consistency: all cells in a pack should be the same model, same batch, and similar age. Mixing different cells causes imbalance and safety risks.
- BMS is mandatory: every lithium pack needs a Battery Management System matched to the series count (e.g. 16S BMS for a 16S pack) with appropriate current rating.
- Electrical safety: high-voltage packs (above 60V DC) require qualified handling, proper insulation, fusing, and enclosure. Follow local electrical codes.
- Charging: use a charger with the correct voltage profile for your pack configuration and chemistry.
- This tool is a planning aid only — not a substitute for professional pack design, testing and certification.
